Beschrijving
Monumental bust of a warrior is a powerful, large-scale Neoclassical marble bust derived from the head of Menelaus in the Pasquino group, one of the most celebrated antiquities. Two main versions of the group exist, in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence and in Rome. It shows the episode from Homer’s Iliad in which Menelaus supports the lifeless body of Patroclus. The laurels around the helmet recall late Baroque sculpture, while the high-quality polished surfaces point to Rome in the late 18th or early 19th century.
Made to order and hand-finished in the Netherlands. Choose from 11 sizes, from a 7 cm miniature to a 48 cm statement piece, in marble white, gold, bronze or any colour you like. Explore more pieces in our Europa collection.
