Daikoku and Ebisu are two of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune in Japan and have long been major votive gods for luck. They are seen as guardians of the natural produce of land and sea: while one hosts the annual meeting of the eight million gods, the other keeps guard over their empty shrines. They are sometimes thought of as father and son. A cheerful pair that brings good fortune.
