The original suclpture, housed at the Museo Montemartini (Capitoline Museums) in Rome, is a Hadrianic copy of a Hellenistic original dating back to 280-270 BC. The original was sculpted by Tyche of Antioch, though the copy is thought to have been by Eutychides, a pupil of Lysippus. This softer work renders the sculpture into a more sublime and intimate moment.
