The Limnerlease Ceiling Panel – Phoenix shows a phoenix, the mythical bird of rebirth, on one of the ceiling panels of Limnerslease, the Guildford home of G.F. and Mary Watts. They date from the early years of their marriage, when a stay in Compton in 1889 led the couple to found the Arts and Crafts complex Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. A symbol of renewal for any home.
