Frieze Slab from the Ionic Temple on the Ilissos in Athens [2] belongs to a set of three marble frieze fragments from Athens, dated 425–400 BC and acquired in Venice in 1872. Standing men and men seated on travelling sacks appear on the slabs, while further parts of the frieze are kept in Vienna and Athens. The frieze is read as a telling of the Pelasgian legend, a story from Greek prehistory.
