This effigy relief represents Adalbert of Saxony (1464-84), administrator of the Archdiocese of Mainz as Adalbart III. Adalbart died in 1484, before he could be ordained as bishop, so he was never archbishop. He is therefore depicted without mitre and pallium.
In the original sculpture, housed in Mainz Cathedral, Germany, the figure holds a cross pole in his hand, and is decorated with Gothic rods and a canopy (recent additions).
