Andrey Bogolyubsky (c. 1111–1174), Andrey Yuryevich of Bogolyubovo, also called Andrei the Pious, was Grand Prince of Vladimir-Suzdal from 1157 until his death. He accompanied his father, Yuri Dolgoruky, on a conquest of Kiev, later sacked the same city in 1169 and oversaw the rise of Vladimir as the new capital of north-eastern Rus’, marking the decline of Kievan rule. In 1702 he was canonised as a saint of the Russian Orthodox Church.
