Attic burial stele from the 2nd century CE, made in Athens in the reign of Hadrian or Antoninus Pius. The marble stele is crowned by a pediment with a palmette antefix, acroteria and a large rosette. In the niche between two pilasters stands a teenager seen from the front, a chlamys on his left shoulder, a pet pigeon in his left hand and a ball in his right. At his feet squats a long-haired Maltese spitz, a favourite domestic animal of the Athenians. The inscription names Mousonis, son of Demetrius. The original is in the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Brussels.
