The Bust of a drunken Satyr, replica of the Herculaneum type, known as the Torlonia Satyr, is a fragment of a statue later turned into a bust, probably once decorating a Roman villa or bath. Satyrs, part human and part animal, were joyful followers of Dionysus. Like the famous Satyr of Herculaneum in Naples, he seems caught at a banquet, pleasantly drunk, with tousled face and small goat horns.
