This Choir Pool from the Basilique Saint-Urbain de Troyes is the famous piscina of Saint-Urbain, an unusually large recess where the ampoules of holy oil were placed and ceremonial water drained away to be purified. The Basilica of Saint-Urbain in Troyes is a large medieval church and a classic example of 13th-century Gothic architecture, built despite strong resistance from a nearby abbey. The church is also known for its stained glass of around 1295.
