Curon’s Bell Tower rises from Lake Resia in South Tyrol, the only remaining part of the church of the submerged village of Curon Venosta. The church was first built in 1357. The village disappeared underwater in 1950, when a dam was built to join two lakes. The tower is periodically restored, can be reached by boat in summer and on foot when the lake freezes in winter. Recently the lake receded and briefly revealed the village again.
