This Epitaph Aswan is a 9th-century marble epitaph from Aswan, Egypt, now in the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Cinquantenaire) in Brussels. The text is carved in high relief in Kufic script and records the profession of faith of Umm al-Hasan Fatima, daughter of Qasim, with a prayer for God’s mercy. A beautiful example of early Islamic calligraphy.
