Female figure

This ritual figure is similar to that deposited as an offering for the child of El Plomo hill, but it is larger and more complex. Its upper part is made of gold alloy and the lower part is made of silver alloy. His eyes are of spondyllus, an orange coloured mollusk very precious to the Incas. It comes from Peru. Although the exact context of the origin of this figure is not clearly known, it is very possible that it was deposited as an offering in a “huaca” or sacred place as an imperial religious symbol. ________________ This object was scanned by Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Chile
