The Funerary statue of Barsémias shows the deceased seated, an unconventional pose for this type of sculpture in Eastern cultures. The posture presents him as an important and respected man in his community. A Greek epitaph engraved on the base gives his name and the year of his death. A dignified ancient portrait for collectors of the art of the Near East.
