Gravestone of Menephron’s son, an astronomer Theodotos. The scholar who is lying on a couch is touching a globe with a stick, while the sundial in the upper left hand corner indicates that his knowledge is of astronomy, while the personal possessions of a man and a woman are visible on a shelf. The stone which was prepared for a married couple bears the name of the man who died first.
