Isis-Tyche-Pelagia reflects the syncretism of ancient religion, in which beliefs grew and changed through contact with other religions. Greek and Roman religious beliefs were deeply influenced by the mystery religions of the East, including the Egyptian cult of Isis, which revealed beliefs and practices to the initiated that remained mysterious to others. Most popular Roman cults had links with these mystery religions and included the prospect of an afterlife.
