This charming study of a 14 year old St John the Baptist is celebrated for the joyful spirit and lightness that many sculptors aspired to achieve in Italy at that time.
Although the original bust, housed in the Municipal Pinacoteca of Faenza, as always been considered one of the most important pieces on diplay, its attribution is still disputed to this day. It was originally attributed to Desiderio da Settignano, now it is more considered to be that of Bernardo/Antonio Rossellino (Planiscig, L.)
