Kneeling figure was excavated near Luoyang, capital of the Eastern Zhou dynasty (770–256 BCE). This small sculpture of a kneeling man holding a tube-like vessel in his extended hands may have served as a torchbearer in a tomb. He wears a close-fitting wrapped garment with a narrow belt and a head covering like an open helmet, rising to a peak before ending in a narrow band at the forehead.
