Beschrijving
Marcus Aurelius as a youth is an ancient marble bust of the future Roman emperor, called the Philosopher, who ruled from 161 to 180. Adopted by Antoninus Pius, he married Faustina and shared power first with Lucius Verus and later with Commodus. The last of the Five Good Emperors, he practised Stoicism, and his Meditations remain one of the most important works of ancient philosophy. A rare portrait of the emperor in his youth.
