The Monument to Anna Maria Porro Serbelloni follows the marble relief on the side of a cenotaph for Countess Anna Maria Porro Lambertenghi, in the Villa Reale. Her husband, Luigi Porro Lambertenghi, commissioned the monument from Thorvaldsen in 1817. On its main face the deceased is carved in low relief, comforting her husband as he raises his arm to heaven, while their son kisses his mother’s funeral urn.
