Portrait of Niccolò Strozzi depicts Niccolò di Leonardo Strozzi (1411–1469), one of the most influential members of the great Florentine family, who became leading bankers at the papal court after similar success in the commercial centres of Italy and Europe. Mino worked for the Strozzi and their circle several times in Florence and Rome. Contemporary documents record Niccolò’s obesity and his passion for food, characteristics this bust faithfully conveys.
