Relief with Heroes and Worshippers is a marble relief from Chrysapha near Sparta, Greece, from around 540 BC, acquired from the Sabouroff Collection. It is the oldest of the Laconian hero reliefs and shows deceased persons honoured as heroes, with clear signs of their elevated status: a throne, a snake, a vessel for offerings and worshippers. Inscriptions suggest that the burial mounds of Spartan heroes were crowned by reliefs of this kind.
