Saint Notburga depicts Notburga of Rattenberg (c. 1265–1313), an Austrian saint from Tyrol and the patron saint of servants and peasants. She was a cook in the household of Count Henry of Rattenberg and gave food to the poor. When she was told to feed leftovers to the pigs, she saved some of her own food and brought it to the poor instead. According to legend, when her master asked to see what she carried, he saw only shavings instead of food and vinegar instead of wine.
