Beschrijving

Statue of Hermes [2] is made of Pentelic marble and was found at Aigion in the Peloponnese. The god stands with his chlamys wound around his left arm, holding a purse in his right hand and the caduceus in his left. It dates from the Augustan period (27 BC–AD 14), probably funerary, and is inspired by Lysippean originals of the 4th century BC.
