Statuette of the Leaning Aphrodite is a marble statuette from Tarquinia, 420–400 BC. The very feminine Aphrodite leans with her elbow on a strongly archaising idol in the shape of a woman. Sculptures, vase paintings and texts show that images of the goddess of love in a relaxed leaning pose were very popular in classical Athenian art.
