Stela with the Amun-Re and Mut relief is a limestone stela from Medinet Gurob, New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, on which the Royal Scribe Nebamun worships Amun-Re and Mut. Mut was the mother goddess of Thebes. The Egyptians saw the vulture as a protecting mother, and their word for mother, mwt, also meant vulture. Mut was shown as a woman, sometimes winged, or as a vulture, often wearing the double crown of Egypt. Amun was one of the most powerful gods of ancient Egypt.
