Sviatoslav I Igorevich (943–972) was Grand Prince of Kiev, famous for his relentless campaigns to the east and south. They brought about the collapse of two great powers of Eastern Europe, Khazaria and the First Bulgarian Empire. He also conquered many East Slavic tribes, defeated the Alans and attacked the Volga Bulgars, at times in alliance with the Pechenegs and Magyars. A warrior prince for lovers of medieval history.
