Beschrijving
The Resurrection is a relief of the Resurrection of Christ by Verrocchio, found at the start of the 20th century in the Medici Villa of Careggi in a state of complete neglect. Inspired by Luca della Robbia’s glazed relief in Florence Cathedral, Verrocchio reworked the theme in a highly expressive way, showing the soldiers’ reactions to the holy event. Their faces range from calmly sleeping to terrified, and comparison with Leonardo’s many face studies shows how much Leonardo was influenced by Verrocchio’s workshop.
