The populations of Hauts Plateaux in Vietnam decorate their tombs with sculptures amongst which the most famous are the ones of Jorai and Bahnar. The ceremonies of ” tomb abandonment” sign the end of mourning which happens several years after death. For the occasion, the tomb is restored, decorated with these typical sculptures which are cut in the same place of the tomb and then abandoned. The animal figures sculpted are said to bring the dead people to the afterlife. This man represented with his arms crossed on top of his knees is the so-called bram, the one who intervenes during the funerary rites.
