The Virgin and Child with the Infant St John, known as the Taddei Tondo, is the only marble sculpture by Michelangelo in Great Britain. Commissioned by Taddeo Taddei, it stayed in the Casa Taddei in Florence until the early 19th century; Sir George Beaumont bought it in 1822 and bequeathed it to the Royal Academy. On the left the infant St John holds out a goldfinch, a symbol of the Passion, to the infant Christ, who turns towards his mother. The relief was made around 1504–1505 and remained unfinished.
Made to order and hand-finished in the Netherlands. Choose from 11 sizes, from a 7 cm miniature to a 48 cm statement piece, in marble white, gold, bronze or any colour you like.
