Beschrijving
Centauro is a modern bronze by Igor Mitoraj of the great mythological beast, a centaur, partly incomplete yet ready for battle. A centaur, or hippocentaur, has the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse. A truly European artist, Mitoraj was born in East Germany to Polish parents and first studied classical painting in Krakow before moving to Paris in 1968. He began experimenting with sculpture after a visit to South America and then made a series of study trips to Greece.
