Donatello’s David With the Head of Goliath is one of two sculptures of the biblical hero David by Donatello, both in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence. This bronze is famous as the first unsupported standing bronze cast in the Renaissance and the first freestanding nude male sculpture since antiquity. It shows David with an enigmatic smile, his foot on the severed head of Goliath just after defeating the giant.
