Antoine Bechamp was a 19th-century scientist and a contemporary of Louis Pasteur. He received a doctorate in science in 1853 and a doctorate in medicine in 1856. He went on to become Professor of Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg and then Montpellier, and later dean of the Catholic Faculty of Medicine in Lille.
