Beschrijving
Aphrodite is a painted limestone figure from Amathus on Cyprus, made around 360–340 BCE. The female figure wears many jewels and holds a flower in her right hand and a bird, a dove or pigeon, in her left. Her turreted crown, a motif from the Middle East, covered with a veil, marks her as a goddess: Aphrodite, whose cult was highly developed on Cyprus. The original is in the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels.
