Clay mask of Huwawa shows Huwawa, or Humbaba, the monster of the Cedar Forest in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh proposed to his friend Enkidu a journey to cut the cedars of Lebanon and kill Huwawa, the monster guarding them, an exploit that would bring them eternal fame. Despite bad omens, they succeeded. Huwawa was shown as hideous, sometimes with his face drawn like the entrails of a sheep.
