Female Head is a marble head from Cyzicus, around 500 BC, from an Eastern Greek statue of a girl, a kore. She has slightly slanting eyes, a smiling mouth and long hair combed over the high back of the head. Unusually, she wears no jewellery, which together with rich garments and a restrained smile usually marked the aristocratic image of women in the 6th century BC.
