Head of Dionysus shows the Olympian god of wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and wild frenzy. Dionysus was depicted either as an older, bearded god or as a long-haired youth. His attributes included the thyrsos, a staff tipped with a pine cone, a drinking cup and a crown of ivy, and he was usually accompanied by Satyrs and Maenads. The head is displayed at the Museum für Abgüsse Klassischer Bildwerke in Munich, which shows Greek and Roman sculpture from the 7th century BC to the 5th century AD.
