This Portrait bust of a young man was created in Athens in the mid-second century AD to commemorate a beautiful youth by likening him to Greek heroes. His luxuriant curls, each ending in an individual snail-like lock, and broad chest evoke 5th-century BC bronzes, unlike the deeply drilled curls of Roman portraits of Lucius Verus. The sharp turn of the head, nude chest, draped cloak and sword belt recall Homeric heroes, as Greeks revived their ancient traditions.
Made to order in the Netherlands and carefully finished by hand. Pick one of 11 sizes (7–48 cm) and the colour that suits your interior, from marble white to gold or bronze. Explore more pieces in our Europa collection.
