The sarcophagus, found in Pozzuoli, is complete with a lid, with the busts of the deceased spouses on the front of the chest. The man is dressed in tunic and toga, the woman is dressed in tunic and stole. The hair, styled according to the typical fashion of the time, is made of waves. The two characters are framed by two garlands of fruit, supported by three winged cupids. The lid is decorated with acroteria and two scenes of marine courtship, with cupids on sea horses.
