Beschrijving

The Old Drunkard is after a slightly restored plaster copy of a Hellenistic original in the Glyptothek in Munich; another restored version is on display in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. The Greek original is lost and its exact date unknown, but scholars generally place it in the late third century BC. Its bulky, pyramidal composition compares with the Scythian of the Marsyas group and the Goose Strangler. A moving, realistic portrait of old age.

Made to order in the Netherlands and carefully finished by hand. Pick one of 11 sizes (7–48 cm) and the colour that suits your interior, from marble white to gold or bronze. Explore more pieces in our Europa collection.
