Head of Asklepios is a marble head from a statue of Asclepius, the hero and god of medicine in ancient Greek religion and myth. He stands for the healing side of the medical arts, and his daughters were Hygieia, Iaso, Aceso, Aegle and Panacea, goddesses of health, recovery and healing. He was associated with the Roman god Vediovis and the Egyptian Imhotep. As a son of Apollo he shared the epithet Paean, the Healer. The rod of Asclepius, a staff entwined by a snake, is still a symbol of medicine today.
