The Red Dragon of Wales is one of the Queen’s Beasts, the ten heraldic statues produced by James Woodford for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. They were later gifted to Canada, which accepted them in 1959, and now stand in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. In 1956 a replica set in Portland stone, again by Woodford, was donated to Kew, where it greets visitors at the Palm House.
