David (Bernini) is Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s Baroque masterpiece showing the biblical hero at the instant before he launches the stone from his sling at Goliath. On the ground lie the armour given to him by King Saul and a harp ending in an eagle’s head, a reference to the Borghese family who commissioned the work. The back is unfinished, as it was meant to stand against a wall. Made more than 100 years after Michelangelo’s David, it shows Bernini’s ability to treat stone like flesh and fabric.
Made to order and hand-finished in the Netherlands. Choose from 11 sizes, from a 7 cm miniature to a 48 cm statement piece, in marble white, gold, bronze or any colour you like.
